Finally have my straight bets over .500 but am yet to hit an NFL parlay. Playing the Ravens at 3-stars today, the Texans at 2-stars and two 3-team parlays each at 1-star. 11% of bankroll being invested today.

Arizona Cardinals +12 @ Baltimore Ravens -12

The Ravens offense can’t be as bad as it was on Monday, right? But the defense will be just as stout, right? I say so. I’ll take the Ravens and give the 12 for 3-stars.

Jacksonville Jaguars +9.5 @ Houston Texans -9.5

I don’t want to say the Jaguars were lucky to win on Monday, but come on the Ravens didn’t even show up. The Texans have shaken off some early season poor play to stay on top of the AFC South and today they will increase their lead. Give me the Texans and I’ll give you 9.5 points for 2-stars.

3-Team Parlay

Washington Redskins +4 @ Buffalo Bills -4

The game is in Toronto and the Bills haven’t done well up there. But this is a different Bills team, and the Redskins are more like what everyone thought they would be. I’ll take the Bills and give the 4 points.

New England Patriots -2.5 @ Pittsburgh Steelers +2.5

Steelers as a homedog can be a dangerous wager. But 2.5 gives me comfort so the Pats can win this with a last second FG if need be. I’ll give the 2.5 points and take the Patriots.

Miami Dolphins +9.5 @ New York Giants -9.5

The Giants seem to play to their competition but I am thinking the Dolphins are too dysfunctional to be competitive today in the cold. I’ll give the 9.5 points and take the Giants at home.

3-Team Parlay

Minnesota Vikings +3 @ Carolina Panthers -3

I am betting the Vikings have found some new life with a new QB. And I am betting that Cam Newton is still a rookie and will show some inconsistency. I’ll take the Vikings and the 3 points.

New Orleans Saints -13.5 @ St. Louis Rams +13.5

The only reason not to take the Saints is that 13.5 is a lot of points to give on the road. Unless the Saints used all their points last week against the Colts they will have no issue staying 2 TDs ahead of the Rams/ I’ll give the 13.5 points and take the Saints.

Indianapolis Colts +8 @ Tennessee Titans -8

I’m betting on the Colts having enough pride to keep this game close, and the Titans offense continuing to struggle I’ll take the 8 points and Colts.

How ironic that the St. Louis Rams are in Dallas while the St. Louis Cardinals are in Dallas! Cardinals will score more than the Rams and the Rams aren’t going to stop the Cowboys. I’ll take the Cowboys and give the 14 for 3-stars.

Pittsburgh Steelers ML -210 @ Arizona Cardinals ML +170

This Steelers team is never the same one week to the next. Pittsburgh is banged up, Arizona is coming off their bye, and its in the desert. All of the leads to me believe the Cardinals will win this game. 1-star on the Cardinals to win at +170.

Washington Redskins +2.5 @ Carolina Panthers -2.5

The Redskins best days are behind them, and they have John Beck making his first start on the road against a decent and dangerous Panthers team. I’ll take the Panthers and give the 2.5 for 1-star.

Seattle Seahawks +3 @ Cleveland Browns -3

I don’t particularly care to bet on bad teams, but I will take solace that I am betting against a worse team that already got their one road win this year. I’ll take the Browns and give the 3 for 1-star.

The Vikings look lost, are starting Christian Ponder at QB, and here come the Packers. I’ll take the Packers and give the 10.

Cliff Lee left the Rangers and no one gave them a shot at the start of this year. The Cardinals were 8.5 games out of the Wildcard in the last month of the season, and no one gave them a shot. The lack of confidence in the Cardinals continued into the first round and all hope seemed lost when they blew an early 3-0 lead to the Phillies, remember them? The best pitching staff ever assembled?! The Rangers meanwhile impressively took care of business and has been cruising through the playoffs.

Neither the Rangers or the Cardinals have gotten great starting pitching, with the exception of Chris Carpenter. The bullpens have carried both teams, with the Cardinals having much more impressive numbers. Can the Red Birds shut down the mighty Ranger lineup? Having the home field advantage certainly helps the Cardinals. While playing in St. Louis the Rangers are going to have to do something about Nelson Cruz batting 7th. With the pitcher two batters behind Cruz there is very little reason for Cruz to be pitched to unless he comes to bat with people already on base. If the Cardinals find a way to deal with Cruz that will go a long way to keeping the Ranger offense in check.

The Cardinals offense has shown that it can put up numbers, and the Ranger pitching staff has not lived up to the reputation it established in the regular season. The Cardinals can rake for sure! Pujols, Berkman and Holliday are known, and now the likes of John Jay and Ryan Thierot are fast becoming known. There has been a lot of clutch hitting for the Cardinals in the past two months.

This Cardinals team seems to have some magic around them. Tony LaRussa has a track record of weaving magic every now and then. The Dean believes the Cardinals will win the series in 6 or 7 games and has placed wagers to that end. 1-star on the Cardinals winning the series in 6 at +450, and 1-star on the Cardinals winning the series in 7, +400.

The Giants are a trendy pick this week and it shows with my book giving them out at -130 to give the 3 points.. I’ll take the Giants and give the 3 for 3-stars (4%).

Its been the talk all week, the Patriots defense can’t stop anyone. The Cowboys offense is pretty good. Coming off a bye week, I’ll put some faith in the Cowboys coaches to come up with a game plan to keep this close. I’ll take the Cowboys and take the 6.

New Orleans Saints -6.5 @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers +6.5

The Bucs sure were disappointing last week, now they come home for a huge divisional game. They’ll find a way to keep it close, soI’ll take the 6.5 points and the Bucs at home.

Minnesota Vikings +1.5 @ Chicago Bears -1.5

The Vikings are able to pressure the QB and the Bears can’t seem to protect theirs, so I’ll take the Vikings and the 1.5 points.

Seattle is a different team home and away, not to mention that they are bad either way. The Giants do have the tendency to play down to their competition, even a sloppy Giants can cover 10 points. I’ll take the Giants minus the points.

I was going to take the Titans to win outright, but decided to take the extra half-point and look for the cover. Titans are the least appreciated good team, and the Steelers are banged up. I’ll take the Titans and the 3.5.

New York Jets +7 @ New England Patriots -7

The Jets were assembled to beat the Patriots. The Patriots can’t stop the run. The Jets have their center back. I’ll take the Jets and the 7.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers +3, +125 @ San Francisco 49ers -3, -145

Hats off to the 49ers on their start to the year. Today they will not be able to run the ball like they have, which puts it back on Alex Smith. I’ll take the Bucs to win this game outright.

The Chargers should have no issues with an overmatched Denver team. But Norv Turner is coaching, so we’ll see. That being said, I’ll take the Chargers to cover the 3.5.

The Panthers have been King of the Backdoor Cover so far this year. Make me nervous so I am going to bundle it into a parlay and bet that the Saints protect their backdoor, if you know what I mean. I’ll take the Saints and give the 6.5

Philadelphia Eagles -3 @ Buffalo Bills +3

The Eagles have legitimate issues with their defense that the Bills can exploit. That said, the Eagles have too much talent to go 1-4, right? Maybe, so I’ll take the 3 points and the Bills at home.

Oakland Raiders +4.5 @ Houston Texans -4.5

In honor of Al Davis, I will expect his spirit to interject here and get the Raiders at least a cover.. I’ll take the Raiders and the 4.5 points.
