Pittsburgh Steelers -6 @ Buffalo Bills
The Bills have been playing much better, as evidenced by their two consecutive wins. The winning streak ends today and things get back to normal in Buffalo as the Steelers will show the difference between the good teams in the league and the bad teams. I will take the Steelers for 200 and give the points.

Atlanta Falcons -1.5 vs Green Bay Packers
A great matchup between two of the best teams in the NFC. I believe the Falcons are better than the Packers, they play smarter, they make fewer mistakes, and they are at home. No problem giving the 1.5 points and taking the Falcons for 200.

Kansas City Chiefs -1.5 @ Seattle Seahawks
An old AFC West matchup with these two. Here is my thinking. The Seahawks have proven themselves to not be a good team while the Chiefs are sniffing playoffs and playing well. I will give the points and take the Chiefs for 100.

St. Louis Rams +4 @ Denver Broncos
Josh McDaniel will be the next head coach fired in the NFL and it may happen after the Broncos lose to the Rams today. I am putting 100 on the Rams plus the points.

Philadelphia Eagles -3 @ Chicago Bears
Eagles are contenders, Bears are pretenders. Enough said. I will give the points and take the Eagles for 200.

Ohio St. Buckeyes -17 vs Michigan Wolverines
Michigan’s defense is too porous, Ohio St. will be able to score at will and they have motive to score a lot as they are still trying to better their BCS position. I will take the Buckeyes, give the points, and put 200 on it.

Florida Gators +2.5 @ Florida St. Seminoles
It does feel like Florida St. can win this game, mainly because Florida is not the dominant team it has been in recent years. The Gators are down, but they are still better than FSU. I’ll take the points and the Gators for 200.

Iowa Hawkeyes -15 @ Minnesota Golden Gophers
One of the most laughable statements by the hypocritical, money grubbing president of Ohio St. is that the Big 10 teams play better teams week in and week out. I wonder how he justifies Minnesota losing to South Dakota? Really makes me want to hate the Big 10. But I don’t hate, I wager. And today I will give the points and take the Hawkeyes for a wager of 200.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish +4.5 @ USC Trojans
I am surprised at myself for playing this game, but I believe in listening to one’s gut. My gut keeps taking me back to ND. Logically I don’t think the Irish are a good bet, but USC isn’t a stellar team this year either. I expect a close game, high scoring, with a dramatic finish. Look for ND to win, but I will still take the points in this wager for 200.

Alabama Crimson Tide -4 vs Auburn Tigers
Auburn has had a nice ride but its gonna come down around them today. I wish it weren’t true, but it is. Alabama has its championship game, and its this one right here, at home. The pressure and scrutiny that Auburn, and more specifically Cam Newton, has endured will take its toll today. I’ll give the points and take Alabama for 200.

Nebraska Cornhuskers -17 vs Colorado Buffaloes
Colorado is bad, real bad, and they will have no answer for the Cornhusker offense that might put up 80 points tonight. With that in mind go ahead and take the Over. For me, I will give the 17 points and take Nebraska for 200.

Oregon Ducks -19.5 vs Arizona Wildcats
Oregon is going to disprove all the theories that their offense can be stopped. Arizona is the unfortunate sacrificial lamb tonight. I will again give the big points and take the Ducks for 200.

Boise St. Broncos -14 @ Nevada Wolfpack
There is no logical reason to bet against Boise St. in this spot.

Baltimore Ravens -13 @ Carolina Panthers
The Ravens are not happy with their performance so far this year, and especially their blown win in Atlanta. The Panthers are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Ravens minus the 13 points for 100.

Kansas City -7.5 vs Arizona Cardinals
The Chiefs are a legitimate team to win any week they play at home. The Chiefs horrendous performance last week sets this game up to think, “how can a team that got blown out by Denver be favored by more than a TD?!” Well, the Chiefs are going to even that blowout score today. I will put 100 on the Chiefs minus the points.

San Francisco 49ers -3.5 vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs were going to make my Pretender v Contender parlay, but they are playing the 49ers and the team by The Bay does not fit the bill as a contender just yet. I still believe the 49ers will win the NFC West and in order for that to happen, they win today along with their Division-mates all losing and the picture becomes that much more clear. I will give the points, take the Niners, and lay 100 on it.

New England Patriots -4 vs Indianapolis Colts
Maybe only one time have I felt like the Colts were going to win when they played the Pats over the past decade. it never feels like they have the upper hand to me, and it usually proves to be that way. Today the Colts roll into town with a banged-up offense that is going to make the mistake that kills them. They also made it last week, but the Bengals are not good enough to take advantage of it, the Patriots are. I will take the Patriots for 100.

4-Team Parlay
![]()
I am calling this my Contender vs Pretender parlay. I identified 4 games where there is one team that I believe is a legit contender to win their respective Conferences going against teams that have gotten their fans’ hopes up of making the playoffs. When in actuality, the surprising teams with the high hopes are about to realize that they do not have what it takes to compete with the best teams.
There is obviously high risk in a 4-team parlay, and that makes the reward that much more enticing. I am going to lay 200 on this 4-teamer, which will pay a cool 2,251.

Pittsburgh Steelers -7 vs Oakland Raiders
This does feel like an old school matchup, the Steelers and the Raiders! Once the ball is kicked off it is going to look a lot more like recent times and a lot less like the 1970s.

New York Jets -6.5 vs Houston Texans
The Texans win opening day against the Colts and haven’t shown up since. There is no reason to expect them to show up today.

Atlanta Falcons -3 @ St. Louis Cardinals
St. Louis is a feel good story. From rags to riches, what a turnaround! They already have 4 wins and they aren’t going to get many more than that this year. Today is a loss and 3 points are not that many.

New Orleans Saints -11 vs Seattle Seahawks
Let me just remind you that the Saints are defending Super Bowl champs, have not been healthy all year, have not payed well all year, yet are 6-3 and right in the thick of it. Seattle meanwhile thinks it can make the playoffs (maybe they can but only because the NFC West is so weak). The reality of the situation is that the Seahawks are not good, and when they went against a good Giants team it showed.

Minnesota Vikings pk @ Chicago Bears
The Bears have ZERO impressive wins this year, and they aren’t getting their first one today. The Vikings, no matter how dysfunctional their locker room, will handle the Bears. I will take the Vikings in this pick ‘e m for 200.

Cincinnati Bengals +7 @ Indianapolis Colts
The Bengals are due! I sound like Krusty when he was betting on the Washington Generals, but I am going with the Bengals getting a full TD. Even should the Colts control the game, which I am not sure they will, the Bengals score garbage points better than anyone in the NFL so a backdoor cover is highly likely. I will take the points and the Bengals for 200.

Tennessee Titans +1 @ Miami Dolphins
Its not the addition of Randy Moss that has me liking the Titans. Its Chris Johnson and the fact that Pennington is the QB for the Dolphins. I will take the Titans and the point for 200.

Penn St. Nittany Lions +19.5 @ Ohio St. Buckeyes
Penn State’s defense is good enough to not let Ohio St. go bonkers on offense, and if there is one thing the Nittany Lions know how to do, its play it close to the vest and keep it close. I will take the surprising 19.5 and the Nittany Lions for 200.

Auburn Tigers -7.5 vs Georgia Bulldogs
Even if all the Cam Newton stuff has an ill affect on Auburn, Georgia isn’t good enough to make them pay for it. The Tigers would have to completely meltdown, and I don’t see that happening. I’ll give the 7,5 points and take Auburn for 200.

South Carolina Gamecocks +6 @ Florida Gators
If there is one team that knows how to disappoint its South Carolina. But I do believe today is different. Florida doesn’t have that swagger this year and South Carolina should make the SEC Championship game in a year like this. Its the year of new blood at the top of the SEC. I’ll take the Gamecocks and the 6 points for 200.

Atlanta Falcons -9.5 vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Falcons are legit, the Bucs are not. Records do not indicate all that there is in the NFL, and the Buccaneers are a great example of that. The Bucs have had a great start to the year, a start that they couldn’t have expected. But let’s not get fooled. The Falcons are the contender, and the Bucs are the pretender. It will show today in Atlanta. I will give the 9.5 points and take the Falcons for 200.

Buffalo Bills +3 vs Chicago Bears in Toronto
The Bills seem to have gotten better every week while the Bears seem to have gotten worse every week. Going 0-16 is not easy to do, and today is a day that the Bills can win, so I am going out and saying they will win. The game is in Toronto, not sure that helps either team. What helps the Bills is that they are playing the Bears. I will take the 3 points and the Bills for 200.

Philadelphia Eagles -3 vs Indianapolis Colts
At first glance the spread on this game seems to be switched. But when you really look at what is most likely going to happen today, the line may not be giving the Colts enough points. The Eagles will be able to run the ball with the RBs and their QB. The advantage that could exist with the Colts defense, their speed, will be negated by Michael Vick at QB. Plus, the Colts secondary will not be able to keep up with the Eagles WRs. The Eagles defense meanwhile will give the banged up Colts all they can handle. I will give the points and take the Eagles for 200.

New York Giants -7 @ Seattle Seahawks
The Giants have not had much recent success in Seattle, but that will all change today. The Seahawks are BAD, really bad. One of the worst teams in the NFL in The Dean’s opinion. The Giants have shown some weaknesses but not nearly enough to think that they can’t cover 7 points against the BAD Seahawks. I will give the 7 and take the Giants for 200.

2-Team Parlay
![]()
Parlay’s have been treating The Dean well this year, going .500 on the year to date. With the nice payoff a parlay grants, being at .500 means I am in the money. Today’s 2-team parlay features the Houston Texans and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Texans are a homedog to a Chargers team that has been a huge disappointment this year. Even more disappointing than there overall record has been their performance on the road. The Texans started the year with a great win over the Colts but haven’t done much since. Look for the Texans to get their running game going today and to win their game outright.
The Chiefs meanwhile have a surprising big game in Oakland. Both of these teams have their fantastic fans excited, and rightfully so. It has been a while since either one of these teams have had much to cheer for. So which of these surprise teams are better? I believe the Chiefs are a better all around team, while the Raiders have benefited from some weak opponents. The line opened at KC -3, and is not at a pick ‘em. Not sure how to take that line movement so I am going with my initial instinct and take the Chiefs.
I am laying 100 on this 2-team parlay.

Houston Texans +3 vs San Diego Chargers

Kansas City Chiefs pick ‘em @ Oakland Raiders
