Detroit Lions -3 vs Washington Redskins
The Lions are not a joke this year. Their record doesn’t indicate just how dangerous they are. The Redskins on the other hand aren’t as good as their record indicates, at least not in my opinion. The Redskins lost big at St. Louis a few weeks back and I look for the Lions to exploit the Redskin secondary just as the Rams did. I am giving the 3 points and taking the Lions for 200.
Cincinnati Bengals pick ‘em vs Miami Dolphins
The Bengals are everyone’s favorite team to hate on. Much of it has to do with their two WRs, TO and Ochocinco. The Bengals were a playoff team last year and in my opinion they are better than they were last year. The NFL is a funny league though, records are not necessarily indicative of how good a team is. I know that Bill Parcells famous line about you being what your record says you are. And I believe that as it pertains to how a team judges their success. However, in the betting world your record is less important in determining just how good a team is. The Bengals are better than their record and will show that today. I am going with the old school helmet for inspiration. At least it inspires me to take the Bengals for 200.
San Diego Chargers -5 vs Tennessee Titans
Talk about being better than your record indicates, the Chargers take it to a whole new level. They are better than their record, but not as good as their stats. Statistically they have the best offense and defense in the league. They also turn the ball over a ton and don’t make key plays when they need them in order to win games. The law of averages says that the Chargers are due for a win, and the Titans are a great team to get it against. Tennessee has some impressive wins by impressive margins, but when you look at the details of their games you see that they are not a dominant team. I will take the Chargers today and give the points for 200.
2-Team Parlay
Today’s 2-team parlay features teams that have really stunk the past few years. The Rams however are playing much better and the Bills showed some like last week against the Ravens. St. Louis gets a Panthers team fresh off their first win of the year, while the Bills are getting a lot of points against a Chiefs team that I am not completely sold on just yet. I expect the Rams to win and 2 points should not be too many to cover. Meanwhile, I expect the Bills to lose but to keep it close and lose in some heartbreaking way. Ya know, the Bills way. I will lay 100 on this 2-team parlay.

Iowa Hawkeyes -6 vs Michigan St. Spartans
I’m not saying that Michigan St. is lucky but when you win two games because of trick plays it doesn’t give me much confidence in the Spartans as they travel to Iowa. The Hawkeyes are good and they are even better at home. I hope Michgan St. enjoyed their time among the undefeated teams because it will end today. I will take the Hawkeyes and give the points for 300.
Penn St. Nittany Lions +3.5 vs Michigan Wolverines
Denard Robinson of Michigan is one hell of an athlete. What he isn’t is a great QB. Penn State has a reputation of shutting down offenses and while their offense has struggled at times there is nothing like a Rich Rodriguez defense to help any offense feel better about themselves. Call it an upset if you must, but it doesn’t feel like one to me. I will take the Nittany Lions and the points for 100.
Oregon Ducks -6.5 @ USC Trojans
Many people are calling for the Trojans to upset the Ducks. There are some stats that make that claim seem somewhat reasonable. The Ducks are able to be run on, they aren’t as good on the road, this is USC’s bowl game, etc. If those reasons give you confidence in USC then go for it, but nothing gives me confidence in USC. The Ducks however give me much confidence, so I will lay 100 on them and five the points.

Pittsburgh Steelers -3 @ Miami Dolphins
It feels to me like the Dolphins have more wins than they deserve. I can’t pinpoint why I feel that way, I just do. The Steelers meanwhile are playing excellent and will only get better now that they have their main QB back. I’ll give the points and take the Steelers for 200.
Washington Redskins +3 @ Chicago Bears
The Bears best days of this year are behind them. I believe the Redskins defense will pin their ears back and get after Cutler, or whichever QB is still alive for the Bears. I will take the Skins and the points for 200.
2-Team Parlay
I am calling this my Two-Team Terrible Parlay. I am calling it that because I like alliteration but also because the first part of the parlay (Buccaneers) is being played because both of these teams (Rams and Buccaneers) could fit into the terrible category. Yes, the Rams are much better than last year but my rationale for taking the Bucs today is that the Rams have already exceeded the win total everyone thought they would get for the year. The second play (Bengals) makes the parlay because they have been terrible, and they are coming off of a bye while the Falcons are coming off a terrible effort in last week’s game in Philadelphia. The Eagles threw the ball all over the yard on the Falcons and I expect the Bengals to do the same. I am laying 100 on this parlay.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers -3 vs St. Louis Rams
I only hope the Bucs wear their old uniforms. I miss them so much.

Detroit Lions -3 vs St. Louis Rams
The Lions are much improved and in The Dean’s book they are 1-3, not 0-4. Today the get their first official win against an improved Rams team that has already overachieved this year. I will take the Lions for 100.
Baltimore Ravens -7 vs Denver Broncos
Kyle Orton’s passing stats will take a hit today. The Ravens are coming off a tough win in Pittsburgh and if you believe in let down games this one could qualify. The Broncos are not going to take well to this Ravens defense. Baltimore will win this going away. Ravens for 100.
Atlanta Falcons -3 @ Cleveland Browns
Cleveland beat the Bengals last week which to me is a sign of the Bengals inconsistencies, not a sign of the Browns being on track. I will give the 3 points and take the Falcons for 100.
Green Bay Packers -2.5 @ Washington Redskins
Anyone that watched the Redskins and Eagles last week know that the Eagles had receivers running open in the secondary all day but Kevin Kolb was unable to hit them. That won’t be the case today with Aaron Rodgers. Add in that the Redskins are coming off an emotional win, are not healthy and in my opinion aren’t all that good and I will take Packers for 100 and give the points.
New Orleans Saints -7 @ Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals are bad and they are starting a rookie QB today. The Saints have not played their best football yet this year and they don’t have to play their best to beat the Cardinals. Saints for 100 minus the points.
2-Team Parlay
We’ll call this my Bay Area Two-Teamer. I will be at the 49ers game tonight, and in close contact with the goings on in Oakland. I am going to lay down 100 on this two-teamer.
Oakland Raiders +7 vs San Diego Chargers
The Chargers have not played well on the road so far this year, and they have beaten the Raiders 13 straight times. It is hard to create the argument that the Raiders will win this game today, but they don’t need to. I am betting on a close game.
San Francisco 49ers -3 vs Philadelphia Eagles
The 49ers will still win the NFC West. Remember I wrote that and you can pat me on the back at the end of the year. By the end of today the 49ers will be only 1 game behind the Rams and the Cardinals, both of whom will lose today, and 1.5 behind the Seahawks who have a bye today. The 49ers first 4 games were the toughest games on their schedule. Tonight the Eagles come in banged up physically and emotionally. 49ers win this one to get their first win of the year.
