Basketball

The Los Angeles Lakers took Game 3 from the Boston Celtics 87-81, the Celtics covered and the Under hit. The series is now 2-1 Boston, with Game 4 scheduled for Thursday in LA. One thing was made crystal clear for me last night, the Boston Celtics are a better team than the Los Angeles Lakers. This isn’t up for debate, its a fact. It doesn’t mean the Celtics are guaranteed to win the series, but all the things we heard about the Lakers are not true. Pau Gasol has not shown up for 3 games, Lamar Odom has gone back into the shell I thought he had shed during the Spurs series, and the bench is better with the Celtics, it isn’t even close. The difference last night was that Paul Pierce did not contribute offensively; he had 6 points.

The line for Thursday is LA -8 and the Total is set at 192. That is too many points and it is caused by the perception that the Lakers are better than they really are. The Lakers winning last night only adds to the public’s mis-perception of the Lakers.

The Rangers beat the Royals 6-5 on the strength of a 4 run 8th inning . . . The Yankees scored in the first and the ninth, beating Oakland 3-1 . . . The Angels beat the Rays 6-1.

National League: The Nationals scored twice in the 9th to beat the Pirates 7-6 . . . The Mets and Diamondbacks were tied at 5 in the 8th, the D-backs won 9-5 . . .
