Basketball

The line for Game 1 of the NBA Finals has moved to Boston -2.5. It opened at Boston -3.5. What does that mean? It means the early money for Game 1 is going to the Lakers. The Total is anywhere between 192 and 193.5, it opened at 194. There is very little to go off of in regards to historical matchups. Since these two teams haven’t played since December, it is just as useful to compare the 1984 Lakers and Celtics.

To aid in your analysis, Tmac by the Bay will be joining Dean Browski tomorrow AM for an NBA Finals preview. We will tape the show around 8:45 AM EST and will get it online for you just as fast as is Deanly possible.

Baseball

Manny Ramirez of the Boston Red Sox hit his 500th Home Run yesterday. He is the 24th player in MLB history to reach the 500 milestone . . . Ken Griffey Jr. hit is 599th and when he hits his next will join an obviously even more elite class of hitters. When he hits it, he will be only the 6th player to achieve that mark . . . Speaking of the Reds, Jay Bruce who has been in the major leagues for just two short weeks is making one hell of a splash. He was the first player to reach base in his first six career plate appearances since 1977, and since then is 11-19 and hit a walk-off HR for the Reds yesterday . . . The Atlanta Braves have lost their last twenty 1-run road games going back to August of last season. That matches the second-longest such streak in major league history. The longest belongs to the Kansas City Royals who lost 21 straight in 2000-2001. The Braves have pulled even with the 1985-86 Pittsburgh Pirates with losing 20-straight . . .

Who’s Hot? / Who’s Not?: The Cubs have won 6 straight . . . The Rockies have lost 6 straight . . . The Royals broke their 12 game losing streak . . . The A’s and the Astros have each lost 4 straight.

Nothing here worth talking about.

The Detroit Red Wings are 1 win away from capturing the Stanley Cup after a hard-fought 2-1 victory in Pittsburgh last night. The Wings lead the series 3-1 and return home for Game 5 on Monday.

Keep aware of the goings on as it pertains to the legalization of online gambling. It is only a matter of time, I say 5-7 years, before we will be able to legally wager on sporting events via our computers and not have to be physically present at a Sportsbook. There is no reason a server can’t sit in Las Vegas that is audited and taxed by the US Government. There is too much money for the US government to make, and too much money being lost by the legit books for it not to happen. Here is an article to that point Click Here to read.
