The Boston Celtics are one win away from going to the NBA Finals after last night’s 106-102 victory over the Detroit Pistons. The Celtics now lead the series 3-2. Boston had a 17 point lead in the 3rd quarter but saw it whittled down to 1 before closing it out. Most importantly, the Pistons covered the 6 point line. Game 6 is Friday in Detroit. The Over hit.
Tonights action: The Lakers are a win away from going to the NBA Finals and will have their first of three potential shots tonight in Los Angeles where they haven’t lost since March 28th. Yesterday I spoke briefly of why that gives my confidence in the Spurs, here is why. In the last week streaks of all types have been snapped. The Celtics winning streak at home, the Celtics losing streak on the road, the Spurs winning streak at home, etc. The line tonight is 8 and to be honest the way the Spurs have played my confidence is wavering. But I don’t quit and I am not going to quit on the Spurs. I will take the Spurs for 2-stars tonight. The Total is set at 193.
The Philadelphia Phillies have the longest winning streak, 4 . . . The Kansas City Royals have lost 10 straight.
Nothing to report.
The Pittsburgh Penguins did more than just score a goal last night, they scored 3 of them and got their first win of the series, 3-2. The Red Wings lead the Stanley Cup Finals 2-1. Game 4 is Saturday in Pittsburgh.
