Tech has not covered big lines this year, Duke has been tough at home and played close games. Home dogs are 2-0 ATS after Thursday and Friday, 1-1 SU. Duke is 5-1 ATS and 5-0 when the spread is double-digits. Tech is 1-4 ATS and 0-4 when trying to cover double digit spreads. The Hokies put points up last week but they didn’t do it with their offense. It is tough to get so many defensive and special teams points in back to back weeks, even for Coach Beamer teams.
It is finally Notre Dame’s turn to ruin Boston College’s season. This is trap game for the Eagles and they must be aware, as well as take care of the ball. Prior to last week’s demolition of Bowling Green the Eagles had not covered the large lines, and this week they go into a hostile environment not as the underdog. Notre Dame broke their losing streak last week despite mustering only 134 yards of offense. If the Irish cause turnovers and make plays on special teams they have a shot, they should be able to keep it close.
Iowa St. comes home after three road losses and finds themselves big dogs. The Cyclones won out-right last time they were a home dog, and the Longhorns barely escaped with a win in their last road game at Central Florida. Texas hasn’t proven anything this year other and 17 points is a lot to cover. Ames, Iowa is a tough place to play and the Cyclones have always been tougher at home than on the road. In typical fashion don’t expect a Cyclone victory, but a blowout loss is unlikely as well.
The Missouri Tigers are a great story so far this year, but I am still not convinced they have beaten anyone all that good. I know Illinois is looking like a good win, and demolishing Nebraska last week certainly feels good. Oklahoma meanwhile has a chance to jump back into legit contention for the National Championship with a convincing win today. Look for them to do so.
No one has fallen harder this year than the Louisville Cardinals. Cincinnati meanwhile is looking like the class of the Big East. The Bearcats are 5-0 ATS and have had no trouble with big lines, or big games. There is always the possibility of a let down after a big win like last week’s against Rutgers. No team is immune from let-downs, but this Cincinnati team seems able to handle it. Louisville meanwhile doesn’t seem capable of handling anything.
The badgers have not been typical and Anthony Morelli has not been good. Penn St. is yet again embarrassed by off the field problems, this time Austin Scott being charged with rape. Two weeks ago a former Nittany Lion was found guilty of murder. What happened to the supposed classiest team in college football? I expect this game to be high scoring.
Indiana needs to win tonight in order to prove all the doubters wrong. It will not be an easy matchup, but is should be an exciting one. Expect a high scoring, big play game. Northwestern put up 48 on the Spartans and MSU seems poised to perfrorm their usual mid-season flop. Indiana meanwhile is playing inspired football and seem to be on a mission. The Big 10 has some new faces at the top, which is always fun.
