The Tar Heels are just what the Hokies need to keep their minor win streak alive. Va Tech may be a bit tough to figure out so far this year, but from where I sit I see a team that ran into the LSU buzzsaw in Week 2, started a Fr. QB in Week 3, and had a weak opponent last week that should’ve allowed the Hokies to fine tune and work out the kinks. Plus it always seems that Frank Beamer’s team gets better as the year progresses. UNC meanwhile seems to get worse as the season goes on and today in Balcksburg is an even tougher game when you remember that UNC was at South Florida last week. I am going to lay 4-stars on this game.

I am sticking by my belief that any time Bobby Bowden and his staff are called on to actually coach, they will fail. Alabama meanwhile is playing inspired ball, they can put up points and should be able to move the ball on the Seminoles. FSU really shouldn’t be favored against any ranked teams, and I am going 5-stars on the Crimson Tide.

Other games that pique my interest but didn’t make the cut are:
Rutgers -15 vs. Maryland
Pittsburgh +5.5 at Virginia. Pittsburgh isn’t as bad as they may seem, and Virginia is not as good as they seem.
Clemson has dominated Georgia Tech recently, but Clemson also is known for losing focus at least once a year and today is a dangerous spot for Clemson.
Illinois/Penn St: interesting that PSU is only a 3 point favorite. It seems to me that Illinois hasn’t done all that much over the past few years, and unless you count their win over Syracuse as impressive (only after Syracuse upset Louisville) I question why PSU isn’t a bigger favorite. I guess people have really lost their love of the Nittany Lions after last week’s no-show at Michigan.
California at Oregon, should be a great game!
The following games are recommended Teaser Candidates:
Ohio +3 vs Kent St.
NC State +8 vs Louisville
Idaho +24.5 vs Hawaii
Minnesota +24 vs Ohio St.
Stanford +14.5 vs Arizona St.

Beginning with the games of this week, 9/27, I have been recording stats on Home Dogs. Here were this week’s results:
- 14 Home Dogs
- Home Dogs went 8-6 ATS
- 4 Home Dogs won their games out-right
These were the 8 covers, *indicates an out-right winner: *South Florida, Northwestern, *Illinois, Tulane, *Colorado, *Georgia Tech, Minnesota, Washington.
These were the 6 Home Dogs that did not cover and the points by which they didn’t cover: Ohio 6, NC State 11.5, Idaho 4, New Mexico 3.5, San Diego St. 15, Stanford 23. I point out the totals because in many instances, Home Dogs make great Teaser Candidates.
Miami OH and Toledo began the week as Home Dog but moved to Favs by kickoff. Miami covered and Toledo did not.
