Pick for Sunday September 17, 2006 – Sunday Night Football

Redskins @ Cowboys

Cowboys -7
Redskins/Cowboys. I remember the days when this game was THE game in the NFL. It has lost its luster, but regains some tonight as these two battle in prime time. I am of the belief that the Redskins are one of the most, if not the most, overrated team in the NFL. Daniel Snyder throws his money around, but he is more like his baseball neighbor in Baltimore, Peter Angelos, than he is like George Steinbrenner. The stat that jumped out at me during the Redskins game against the Vikings was that Snyder has signed 21 Pro Bowlers but that not one of them has made the Pro Bowl as a Redskin . . . unreal.

The Cowboys on the other hand struggled against the Jaguars last week after getting off to a great start. There is always some controversy when Bill Parcells and TO are involved, this time around Drew Bledsoe. When I set my line for this game, I had the Cowboys favored by 4 points. Vegas opened at 5.5 and the line is now 7. This seems high, which makes me want to run with it.

Portis isn’t healthy and Brunell hasn’t been good for 10 years. TO and the rest of the Cowboys offense will come to life and the Cowboys will win this game going away. Take the Cowboys, give the points and feel good about this 4-star Sunday Night special.

REVIEW: Cowboys 27 – Redskins 10

TO didn’t do much, and I am not convinced Bledsoe is ‘back’. What I am convinced of is that the Redskins are not that good.
