Miami -3.5 ![]()
The Dean just can’t pass up this Monday night rivalry. Weather may be a factor in this game and that is always a problem because that makes the game even more unpredictable than it already is. Games between these two have a history of being close, especially the past couple years. Miami opened as a 6.5 point favorite which seemed a little high and has now dipped to 3.5 due to the suspension of top receiver Ryan Moore and leading rusher Tyrone Moss. However, just like any top program, Miami has plenty of talent waiting for their chance to shine. Reserve back Charlie Jones has experience and is a powerful back. WR Lance Leggett is talented and is expected by the coaching staff to have a breakout season, so I’m not too concerned with the suspensions. Florida St. lost a ton of talent and leadership on defense to the NFL. An entirely new secondary will start for FSU and will have to prove they are not overwhelmed. Miami as always has plenty of NFL talent on their defense and will be ready to defend the Orange Bowl turf they call home. I do not think the suspensions warrant a 3 point swing in the line and I’ll go with the Canes minus the points at home on the NCAA’s version of Monday Night Football.
What ever happened to the days of Miami/FSU games being exciting?! The past two editions of this game have not been worthy of an ounce of hype. Both these programs are nowhere near the programs they used to be. Miami got smoked in their Bowl Game last year and FSU was only in the Orange Bowl because VA Tech couldn’t close out their year. Larry Coker is getting what he deserves for selling out his coaching staff in the off-season. And Bobby Bowden can claim this year to be a success because he beat the ‘Canes. Now if Bobby could only find a way to get his granddaughter’s picture off the Internet.
